Our Tale

At Elliot’s Tales, we love to read good books to our children and give them good books to read. But we have found that you can’t judge a book by its cover, or the inside flap, or even by the first few pages. Sometimes, you can’t judge it by online reviews or its popularity.

We know that sometimes story lines and character arcs require a character to develop through his or her own negative personality traits, or difficult situations, but a story about running away from home, or pushing your little brother to the ground is not our opinion of a good classroom or bedtime story.

It is not our intention to insulate our children from real world experience; social media saturates them with the real world. It is our intention to promote their imaginations and creative thinking with positive situations and good story telling.

To achieve our purpose, we have created this blog site to locate and review the books and stories that are positive, uplifting, inspiring, and have a good message. To do this, we provide an age appropriate reading list with reviews for your consideration. We will gladly review any books that you would like to recommend, but please don’t be upset if we do not select your book. This is a subjective selection, after all, just like your recommendation is subjective.

Since this is a site for children, we also want to encourage them to submit their stories to our monthly Writers/Photographers Competition. The top three submissions each month will be posted on the site.

Finally, there are many of you out there that are excellent writers, or always wanted to write a children’s story. While we are not a publication house or a publishing agency and we will not market or promote your work, we encourage you to submit your story to us and if your story meets our criteria, we will give you a voice. Of course, you must agree to certain terms and conditions which will be posted on the Submissions Page.

A portion of all proceeds and donations will go to animal rescue and protection organizations and agencies.

We are a non-discriminatory organization with no social, religious, or political agenda and all of our reading selections are made accordingly.
